Rail News: Labor
It’s back to the drawing board for Norfolk Southern Railway and Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET) negotiators. Yesterday, the BLET announced members rejected a tentative NS contract.
The vote came in at 1,050-for and 1,144-against, but only 47.5 percent of
eligible voters cast ballots, the BLET said.
Since the current contract doesn’t expire until 2009, NS and BLET officials have time to return to the bargaining table and negotiate a new agreement, the union said.
