Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET) members are considering a petition that would change the way the union elects top officials. The measure proposes a direct election of union officers instead of an election conducted by delegates at a national convention.
Last week, the BLET mailed 37,000 ballots to all active members; votes on the petition are due June 17.
