Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen members who work for Berkshire & Eastern Railroad (B&E) have unanimously ratified a new five-year contract.
The agreement governs rates of pay, benefits and work rules for 32 members. The contract calls for general wage increases of 22.5% over the five-year period, BLET officials said in a press release. General Chairman Ben Martin said the union made no concessions in the new deal.
The agreement also outlines a 24-hour rest cycle for extra board employees, a new feature for those employees; eliminates supplemental spare rules and increases meal allowances.
A Genesee & Wyoming Inc. subsidiary, the B&E operates 414 miles of track between Mechanicville, New York, and Ayer, Massachusetts.
