Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET) members on Jan. 23 ratified a new six-year agreement with the St. Lawrence & Atlantic Railroad (SL&A).

The agreement provides retroactive pay dating to Jan. 1, 2022, for all active employees and a fifth week of vacation after serving 22 years (versus the current 25 years). The contract also includes general wage increases of 24% over the life of the agreement — 5% in 2022, 4.5% in 2023, 4% in 2024, 3% in 2025 and 3.5% in 2026, according to a BLET news release.

BLET  organized the SL&A in August 2013. A Genesee & Wyoming Inc. subsidiary, SL&A operates more than 162 miles of track in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont, and interchanges with CSX and the New Hampshire Central Railroad.
