Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen members last week ratified a new contract agreement with the Dakota, Minnesota & Eastern Railroad.
The contract provides for general wage increases of 24.75% (27% compounded) for the life of the contract, which expires at the end of 2023. No major work rule changes or health care concessions are included in the agreement, BLET officials said in a press release.
"The pay increases in this contract reflect that our members are essential to the railroad’s success," said BLET National President Dennis Pierce.
BLET members who work for the short line belong to four different union divisions, and during collective bargaining, they were overall represented by the CP Rail System/U.S. General Committee of Adjustment.
The DM&E is a subsidiary of Canadian Pacific.
