Rail News: Labor
Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET) National President Don Hahs recently began serving a six-month suspension from office after reaching an agreement with International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT) officials to settle a spending dispute.
An International Review Board investigation determined Hahs spent union funds for non-union purposes between 2004 and 2006, claims IBT, the BLET's parent organization. IBT officials and Hahs reached a settlement in late November that includes the suspension.
In accordance with National Division rules, BLET First Vice President Edward Rodzwicz will "assume the duties of and serve as national president," said BLET spokesman John Bentley.
