BMWE to poll members on proposed Teamsters merger
advertisement
Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employes (BMWE) is preparing a survey designed to generate feedback from members on a proposed merger with International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT).
The survey will enable BMWE and IBT to determine the probable outcome of a merger vote, according to a prepared statement.
Although the survey won't be completed and mailed to members until late September or early October, BMWE plans to begin negotiating merger-agreement terms with IBT.
Before announcing the proposed IBT marriage Sept. 8, BMWE considered mergers with United Steelworkers of America and International Union of Operating Engineers.
