Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employes Division (BMWED) members on Tuesday re-elected Freddie Simpson to a four-year term as president at the union's convention in Las Vegas. Members also re-elected Perry Geller Sr. as secretary-treasurer.

BMWED's president since 2004, Simpson also serves as an international vice president of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. He previously served BMWED as secretary-treasurer and as a vice president.

BMWED members also elected three new vice presidents: Sean Gerie, Northeast Region; Bruce Glover, Northwest Region; and David Scoville, West Region. Vice Presidents David Joynt (at-large) and Roger Sanchez were re-elected to fill out the National Division's slate of officers.

In addition, the following executive board members were elected: Jack David (at-large), Staci Moody-Gilbert (at-large), Dennis Albers (South Region), Jed Dodd (Northeast Region), Gary Marquart (West Region) and Roy Miller (Northwest Region).

Gilbert became the first female to be elected to the executive board in the union's 127-year history, BMWED officials said in a press release. A BMWED member for more than 20 years, she chairs the Burlington Northern System Division.
