The Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET) has named Stephen Bruno director of regulatory affairs to succeed Tom Pontolillo, who was named director of research and assistant to the president in April.

Since he joined the BLET in 1985, Bruno has served as local chairman, general chairman, alternate vice president and chairman of the Eastern General Chairmen’s Association.

In his new role, Bruno will represent the BLET on numerous collaborative endeavors (such as the Rail Safety Advisory Committee with the Federal Railroad Administration), prepare the union’s responses to various agencies’ proposals for rulemakings and proposed rules, and prepare responses to petitions for waiver from compliance with FRA regulations.

Meanwhile, Kyle Brooking has been elected as the CSX Transporation/United Transportation Union (UTU) division safety coordinator for the CSX Great Lakes Division. He serves as alternate state director in Indiana and legislative representative of Local 1548.

Brooking will represent UTU members who work for CSXT division that runs from Erie, Pa., to East St. Louis, Ill.
