Canadian National Railway Co. and the United Transportation Union recently reached a three-year agreement covering train and engine-service employees on the former Bessemer & Lake Erie Railroad, which is now part of CN’s Bessemer Subdivision.

Ratified by union members, the contract calls for hourly compensation and permits engineers and trainmen to transfer to CN’s Grand Trunk Western division if Bessemer & Lake Erie trackage is sold or abandoned.

Running between Conneaut, Ohio, and Pittsburgh, the Bessemer Subdivision is used by CN to move coal, iron ore and limestone.
