CNTL, a CN subsidiary dedicated to first-and-last-mile trucking container pickup and deliveries, has reached a second tentative agreement with owner-operators affiliated with Unifor.
The first tentative agreement, announced Jan. 17, was not ratified, CN officials said in a press release. The new four-year agreement covers 750 owner-operators under contract with CNTL in Canada until Dec. 31, 2027.
Meanwhile, the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) has announced a voluntary recognition agreement with Siemens Mobility to represent employees who will build train sets for the Brightline West high-speed rail project connecting Las Vegas and Southern California.
The agreement establishes a fair and nonadversarial process for future employees to obtain relevant information about the benefits of union representation, IAM officials said in a press release. Once the majority of employees petition for IAM representation, Siemens Mobility will voluntarily recognize the IAM commence bargaining, they said.
