Rail News: Labor
Canadian Pacific Railway recently reached a tentative five-year agreement with the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET) covering 440 locomotive engineers at CPR’s Soo Line Railroad subsidiary.
CPR and BLET officials agreed to apply the terms of a recently negotiated national agreement to their pact. The agreement calls for 17 percent general wage increases over the five years and increases in employees’ health-care premium contributions. In addition, engineers would be included in national railroad health-care plans.
Union officials expect to complete the ratification process by mid-June.
