CSXT eliminates 143 supervisory jobs
CSX Transportation recently cut 143 non-union jobs — mostly operations department supervisors — to eliminate management redundancies, railroad officials said.
All laid-off workers have been given severance packages and offered job-search assistance.
Earlier this year, CSXT announced plans to cut 900 jobs through layoffs and attrition. So far, 400 positions have been eliminated. The railroad plans to lay off 200 customer-service representatives next month.
Beyond the 900 target, "no more cuts are planned, but our business needs and organization size will continue to be evaluated for maximum effectiveness," says CSXT spokesman Gary Sease.
