Rail News: Labor
Yesterday, Canadian National Railway Co. announced Teamsters Canada Rail Conference/Rail Canada Traffic Controllers members ratified a two-year contract extension.
Expiring Dec. 31, 2008, the contract covering dispatchers based in Montreal, Toronto and Edmonton, Alberta, now is a five-year pact. Effective Jan. 1, 2007, the extension will increase wages and improve benefits.
“CN believes five-year contracts allow management and labor to take a longer-term view of the enterprise,” said CN Vice President of Labor Relations Kim Madigan in a prepared statement.
