Rail News: Labor
Members of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers' (IBEW) System Council 11 recently ratified a five-year agreement with Canadian National Railway Co. The pact replaces a four-year contract that expired Dec. 31.
The agreement, which calls for wage increases and benefit improvements, covers 700 workers who maintain signals and communications in Canada.
"This new agreement provides five years of stability for our members," said Brian Strong, senior system general chairman for the IBEW council, in a prepared statement. "We believe that CN's commitment to continue regular meetings and communications with the union to resolve outstanding issues will strengthen our relationship."
