Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA) recently contracted Cuyahoga Community College’s (Tri-C) Public Safety Institute to train transit police and other emergency responders.

RTA will use a U.S. Department of Homeland Security grant to fund the eight-week training program, under which the college will train 100 RTA employees.

“Our program is designed to help improve the response capabilities of members assigned to public agencies that could respond to terrorist attacks or events involving the use of weapons of mass destruction,” said Tri-C Executive Vice President David Reines in a prepared statement.”
