Gary Railway workers ratify agreements
advertisement
Gary Railway Co. yardmen, hostlers and yardmasters represented by the United Transportation Union recently ratified separate six-year agreements.
The contracts provide annual wage increases, lump-sum percentage back pay, improved bereavement leave, better sickness/disability insurance, and a reduced monthly health and welfare contribution.
Owned by Transtar, Gary Railway operates 63 miles of yard track in Gary, Ind., and primarily serves U.S. Steel. The short line started operations as a result of the Elgin, Joliet and Eastern Railway Co. acquisition by CN.
