Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority recently approved a three-year contract with Amalgamated Transit Union, which represents 2,300 of the agency’s rail and bus operators, mechanics and clerks.

The contract runs from Aug. 1, 2003 to July 31, 2006.

Effective Feb. 1, 2004, wages will be adjusted 1 percent, 1 percent, 2 percent, 1 percent and 3 percent in six-month increments, respectively, during the contract period. Each full-time employee will receive a one-time $900 bonus; each part-time employee, a $450 bonus.

The contract requires employees to contribute more toward their medical insurance, and contains stipulations aimed at improving productivity and controlling overtime costs, according to a prepared statement.
