Yesterday, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) representatives suspended contract negotiations with Canadian National Railway Co. officials, according to a union statement.

"There are big differences on money, benefits … [and] the discipline policy," said Kevin Kearns, IBEW senior system general chairperson.

Union negotiators plan to consult members to determine the next course of action.

IBEW represents 700 CN employees in Canada who maintain signals, radio communications, fiber optics, rail traffic-control systems, and electronic safety apparatus and devices.
