On Friday, the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET) announced that 12 members unanimously ratified a new agreement with the Eastern Idaho Railroad (EIRR) in March.
Expiring March 31, 2016, the pact provides a general wage increase of 6 percent and a signing/longevity bonus. In addition, the workers’ health and welfare plan remains unchanged.
Contract negotiations between the BLET and short line started in 2009. Owned by the Watco Cos. L.L.C., EIRR operates 270 miles of track in Idaho and interchanges with Union Pacific Railroad in Idaho Falls and Minidoka.
