Former Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers General Chairman J.B. White died Nov. 3. He was 75.

White's 47-year rail career included stints as general chairman on the former Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad (MKT) for "a number of years," and was the last to hold the office before the MKT was merged into the Union Pacific Railroad in 1988, according to a BLE statement. White also served as vice chairman for seven years prior to serving as general chairman. He joined BLE Division 177 in Denison, Texas, in 1978, and retired in 1997.

"Brother White served the Brotherhood admirably for many years," said BLET National President Don Hahs.

Added BLET National Secretary-Treasurer Bill Walpert: "He will be remembered as a dedicated and loyal union leader who made many important contributions to the Brotherhood and its members."

White is survived by his wife, Lois; sons, Stephen, David and James; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
