Keolis Commuter Services has reached a tentative agreement with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for employees working at the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority's commuter railroad.
As the operating and maintenance partner for the commuter railroad, Keolis is responsible for reaching agreements with the 14 unions that represent more than 2,000 commuter railroad employees. IBEW is the latest and final union to reach a tentative agreement with Keolis. All other unions have ratified their contracts, Keolis officials said.
The five-year agreement with IBEW is pending ratification by union members and will be retroactive to July 1, 2023, Keolis officials said. If ratified, it will provide members with additional paid sick leave, annual wage increases, increased health benefits, an additional paid holiday and enhancements to the bereavement and vacation polities. Keolis has not specified whether all union contracts offer the same benefits.
"I want to thank our partners at all 14 unions for their hard work. We are proud of these agreements and the quality of life that they continue to guarantee for our workforce," said Keolis CEO and General Manager John Killeen in a press release.
