advertisement
Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transit Authority (LA MTA) and United Transportation Union reached an agreement to extend a current labor contract, averting a potential strike that might have occurred at midnight Sept. 18, when a court-ordered cooling-off period expires.
LA MTA and UTU extended the contract 10 days. After that, the agreement can be terminated by either party with 72 hours notice.
UTU represents about 5,000 Metro Rail and Bus operators.
