Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LA MTA) has issued a final contract offer to Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU), which went on strike Oct. 14, halting Metro Rail and Metro Bus service.
During the past year, the 2,000 union-represented mechanics and bus operators have rejected four of LA MTA’s contract offers.
The latest offer includes a retroactive $4.7 million cash infusion into ATU’s health and welfare fund, increases in LA MTA’s contribution to employees’ health care, retroactive wage increases and limited subcontracting.
