The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) is seeking women interested in careers in the transportation and construction industries.

As part of its recruitment efforts, Metro will host a Women Build Metro Los Angeles Apprenticeship (WBMLA) Readiness Fair on May 17 at the agency's L.A. headquarters. The event focuses on opportunities for women, but everyone is welcome to attend, Metro officials said in a press release.

The program will feature sessions about the construction industry, career pathways and assistance programs available to prepare women to take advantage of Metro’s mandate to attract more women to work on building Los Angeles County infrastructure, Metro officials said.

The event also offers hands-on experience and learning opportunities.

Established to support Metro’s project labor agreement and construction careers policy, WBMLA includes women and men in construction related industries, community advocates, stakeholders and decision-makers from private and public sectors.
