The Transportation Communications Union (TCU) executive council recently elected John Lydon international vice president. A TCU board member since 2003, he will assume the post April 1.
Lydon began his railroading career in 1971 with Union Pacific Railroad. In 1986, he was elected as a TCU local chairman, a position Lydon held through re-election until 2000, when he was elected general chairman of System Board 106. Lydon was re-elected to that post in summer 2006.
TCU represents about 46,000 members, most of whom are railroad employees, including clerks, carmen, yardmasters and intermodal workers.
