The Transportation Communications Union (TCU) recently elected Russell Oathout as international vice president to succeed Richard Arndt, who will retire Oct. 31. Oathout will assume the position Jan. 1, 2008.

Most recently an international representative for Unit 86, Oathout has had stints as local chairman, vice general chairman of System Board 86, general secretary-treasurer/VGC and general chairman since joining the TCU in 1983.

Arndt has served as international VP since 2004. He previously served as general chairman from 1986 to 2004.

TCU represents about 46,000 members, most of whom are employed in the rail industry, including clerks, carmen, yardmasters and intermodal workers.
