Rail News: Labor
After more than two years at the negotiating table, the Port Authority Trans Hudson Corp. (PATH) and tower operators represented by United Transportation Union (UTU) Local 1413 reached a tentative six-year agreement last week.
Tower operators — who direct train traffic on PATH — are set to begin voting on the pact, which would be retroactive to February 2005 and run through February 2011. The agreement includes wage increases each year, and retroactive pay and pension contributions.
"There are no givebacks in this contract," UTU General Chairperson Thomas Malone said in a prepared statement.
The ratification process should be complete within 30 days, added UTU International Vice President Tony Iannone.
