The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority has reached a tentative contract agreement with Transit Workers Union Local 234, one of the largest unions representing the rail agency's employees.
The agreement, which is effective for employees of the city, suburban and Frontier Transit divisions, will include wage increases, a pandemic payment, paid parental leave and Juneteenth as a new paid holiday, SEPTA officials said in a press release.
The agreement is still pending ratification by TWU Local 234 members and SEPTA's board.
Negotiations focused on rewarding SEPTA employees for their work amid the hardships of the pandemic.
"SEPTA's frontline employees were critical to keeping our region moving during the worst of the pandemic, and this agreement reflects their dedication and sacrifice," said SEPTA CEO and General Manager Leslie Richards.
