Members of the SMART Transportation Division's Local 1440 in Staten Island, N.Y., last week ratified a tentative agreement with New York City's Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA).

The agreement includes a 15.88 percent wage increase with retroactive earnings, along with improved sick leave, personal leave and holiday pay, SMART officials said in a press release.

Additionally, the agreement includes improvements to medical, dental and vision coverage.

SMART General Chairperson Thomas Wilson led negotiations with the assistance of Legal Counsel David Davis and General Committee Secretary Carlos Sanchez.
