advertisement
The Community College Station Chancellor’s Office recently awarded a $600,000 grant to San José City College to launch the Joint Workforce Investment (JWI) Transportation Career Ladders program. The labor/management initiative was developed by the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) and Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 265.
The JWI program is designed to provide targeted recruitment, and offer a training and mentoring plan for VTA workers to improve their skills and advance their careers. The program also will provide maintenance trainer resources, build career ladder programs and create new recruitment opportunities for people seeking public transportation careers.
