United Transportation Union-represented train and engine-service workers at the Timber Rock Railroad recently ratified their first contract with the short line.
Expiring at 2012’s end, the contract includes wage increases, benefit improvements and other provisions, including a codified grievance system.
Owned by the Watco Cos. Inc., Timber Rock interchanges with BNSF Railway Co. in Tenaha and Silsbee, Texas, and with the Kansas City Southern in DeRidder, La. The short line handles more than 26,000 carloads annually.
