The Transportation Trades Department, AFL-CIO (TTD) last weekend held its winter convention, during which its affiliates laid out recommendations for the U.S. transportation system in 2015 and marked the organization's 25th anniversary.

"[This year] must be about holding those we elected accountable to the American people who grow weary of a transportation system that is falling apart and an economic recovery that is still leaving too many behind," said TTD President Edward Wytkind in a press release.

He went on to note that the proposed recommendations cover a wide swath of transportation-related issues, ranging from safety and worker protections to collective bargaining and trade policy.

The groups' member unions conferenced with U.S. Reps. Peter King (R-N.Y.) and Rodney Davis (R-Ill.) regarding their ideas, and spoke with Peter Rogoff, the U.S. Department of Transportation's under secretary for policy.

TTD members also re-elected Wytkind as president and Larry Willis as secretary-treasurer at the event.

TTD represents 32 unions in the railroad, transit, trucking, aviation, longshore, maritime and other transportation industries.
