Teamsters Canada Rail Conference-Maintenance of Way Division members recently ratified a five-year agreement with Canadian Pacific.
About 49 percent of the ballots sent to members were returned, of which 97.4 percent voted in favor of ratification, union officials said in a prepared statement. The previous agreement between the parties expired on Dec. 31, 2012.
The contract calls for 3 percent wage increases in each of the next five years and an additional 1 percent lump sum (pensionable) payment for each year of the pact.
The Maintenance of Way Division represents 2,600 workers who build and maintain tracks, bridges, structures and machinery for the majority of Canadian railways.
