Two BMWED divisions merge to form Midwest federation

The Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employes Division
of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters recently announced a
merger between two federations. The Chicago, Milwaukie, Saint Paul
& Pacific System Federation and Soo Line System Division will
combine and form the Midwest System Federation.
The new division will represent more than 700 BMWED members working in nine states. The federation will represent maintenance-of-way workers at such railroads as Iowa Interstate Railroad Ltd., the Lake Superior & Ishpeming Railroad, Canadian Pacific Railway's Soo Line Railroad, the Northeast Illinois Regional Commuter Railroad Corp. and Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District.
