United Transportation Union-represented yardmasters recently ratified an agreement with Canadian Pacific Railway. The yardmasters work at the Class I's 3,200-mile Soo Line subsidiary.

The contract provides three wage increases (retroactive to Aug 1, 2002), a $500 signing bonus and a performance incentive plan that could boost pay up to 5 percent. The pact also improves life, accident and dismemberment benefits; increases supplemental sickness benefits, enhances 401k plans and adds health-care insurance plan choices.

The railroad and union reached a tentative agreement in early February.
