Unifor members of Council 4000 and Local 100 at CN voted in favor of a strike action if a contract agreement is not reached before Jan. 1, 2025, the union announced yesterday.

Ninety-six percent of Local 100 members and 97% of Council 4000 members voted to support the action, Unifor officials said in a press release.

Negotiations with CN resumed yesterday in Montreal and will continue through Dec. 8. The current agreement ends Dec. 31, according to an update on CN's website.

Council 4000 represents over 3,300 workers in customer service, clerical roles and mechanical operations. Local 100 represents approximately 2,100 workers, including mechanics and heavy equipment operators.
