Unifor members vote for strike action against CPKC

Unifor members of Local 101R at Canadian Pacific Kansas City have voted overwhelmingly in favor of a strike, with 99% of members voting in support, the union announced this week.

The vote authorizes the union to initiate a strike action if a deal is not reached by midnight Eastern Time on Jan. 29, according to a Unifor press release.

Members' concerns relate to job security, work ownership, fair wages and improved working conditions, said Unifor National President Lana Payne.

"CPKC workers play a critical role in Canada’s transportation network. Our union will stand firm to ensure their contributions are respected through an approved collective agreement,” Payne said.
