Western New York & Pennsylvania T&E workers join BLET
advertisement
Train and engine-service workers at the Western New York & Pennsylvania Railroad L.L.C. (WNY&P) recently voted in favor of joining the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET).
On Nov. 17, the National Mediation Board certified election results for the short line’s employees, who previously were unrepresented. BLET representatives now will begin negotiating a contract for the workers.
The 110-mile WNY&P operates lines between Hornell, N.Y., and Rouseville, Pa.; Olean, N.Y., and Driftwood, Pa.; and Olean and Machias, N.Y. The short line interchanges with Canadian Pacific Railway, Norfolk Southern Railway, the Buffalo & Pittsburgh Railroad, New York & Lake Erie Railroad, and Oil Creek & Titusville Lines.
