Gradia to succeed Allen as National Railway Labor Conference chairman

The National Railway Labor Conference (NRLC) recently named A. Kenneth Gradia chief labor negotiator. He will succeed Robert Allen as NRLC chairman, according to the United Transportation Union.
Allen will serve as a senior adviser until he retires in July 2009 when his contract expires.
Gradia has been NRLC's vice chairman since 2002. He joined the conference in 1984 as labor counsel and later served as director of labor relations. Gradia previously was an attorney with the Federal Railroad Administration.
Through the National Carriers' Conference Committee, which is organized within the NLRC, the conference represents most major U.S. railroads (including the Class Is) in national bargaining with the 13 major rail labor unions. The NRLC was formed in 1963.
