CPR's logistics arm lands wind turbine contract

Canadian Pacific Logistics Solutions (CPLS) has a bit more wind in its sails. The company recently signed a multi-million dollar-contract with Vestas Canadian Wind Technology to move equipment used to build wind turbines.

Vestas is building an 84-turbine wind farm in Hak, Saskatchewan. During the next six months, CPLS will move European-built equipment on seven Canadian Pacific Railway trains from the Port of Houston to Hak. Each 67-car train will move dozens of 125-foot blades and generators — enough to build 12 wind turbines.

The first train, which departed the port May 23, is scheduled to arrive in Hak today. The six other trains will move in three-week intervals.
