R. J. Corman obtains automotive loading contract at four Toyota plants

R. J. Corman Switching Co. LLC has been awarded a contract to provide automotive loading services at four Toyota North American facilities.

The contract covers work at the auto manufacturer's sites in Georgetown, Kentucky; Tupelo, Mississippi; Princeton, Indiana; and San Antonio, Texas.

R. J. Corman has performed work for the past seven years at the Tupelo plant and six years at the Georgetown plant. The new contract will continue the relationship with Toyota through 2021. At the Princeton and San Antonio plants, R. J. Corman began operations Jan. 1.

Since 2011, R. J. Corman has handled about 2 million Toyota vehicles. As the automotive loading provider, R. J. Corman will handle all new vehicles produced by Toyota nationwide. In addition, the company will provide rail switching and track maintenance services.

"This [contract] will expand on our rapport with the great team at Toyota, and we look forward to a long and successful relationship with this remarkable client," said Chris Stevens, vice president of operations for R. J. Corman Switching Co., in a press release.

The company will provide and maintain locomotives, work trucks, fleet vehicles and additional pieces of specialty equipment at all four Toyota locations. In addition, R. J. Corman will expand its workforce at the Georgetown site by 40 employees and will bring on 85 employees in Princeton and 75 in San Antonio.

Said D'Anne Duclos, vice president of Toyota Logistic Services, added: "We look forward to our continued partnership in additional locations."
