Americold late last month opened a 160,000-square-foot temperature-controlled facility in Heyburn, Idaho.Served by Union Pacific Railroad, the facility will help the company — which provides temperature-controlled warehousing and logistics services to the food industry — accommodate the local dairy and agricultural market, Americold officials said in a press release. The facility is designed to handle more than 17,000 pallets, and features seven rail dock and 10 truck dock doors.Americold plans to provide cross-docking, labeling and ticketing, product tempering, and export truckload and less-than truckload consolidation services from the Heyburn location. The company also operates facilities in Burley and Nampa, Idaho."Our customers have told us — and our research has shown — that the Magic Valley region is poised for exponential growth potential in the dairy and agriculture industries, and the demand for temperature-controlled, secure storage is rapidly increasing," said Americold President and Chief Operating Officer Fred Boehler. "The facility's close proximity to the Union Pacific rail line and I-84 provides customers greater transportation alternatives to suit their distribution models."
