BNSF Railway Co. yesterday marked the first anniversary of its Logistics Center Hudson receiving its first unit train of sand.
Construction began on the rail-served development, located in the greater Denver area, in February 2019. The center served its first customer, Granite Peak Transloading, seven months later.
Logistics Center Hudson was designed to help businesses increase their reach and speed to the Denver market and surrounding area. As with other BNSF Logistics Centers, businesses locating in Hudson can save nine months or more of development and time and expense because the common infrastructure is established with graded, shovel-ready sites in place, BNSF officials said in a press release.
Granite Peak has built over 25,000 feet of track at the center, where the company has been able to work on three unit trains simultaneously — a capability not available elsewhere in the Denver area, said Fred Bourne, Granite Peak's vice president of business development.
Logistics Center Hudson is a 430-acre facility featuring sites for customers who wish to ship via individual rail cars as well as unit train sites for customers who ship entire trainloads. Businesses that locate there have access to the BNSF rail network, as well as Interstate 76.
BNSF Logistics Centers focus on offering direct rail service in business parks designed for multiple customers and commodities. BNSF invests directly in developing the facility to create sites in under-served, strategic, end-user markets, BNSF officials said.
