Badger Mining Corp. (BMC) has forged a new partnership with TranSand Inc. to significantly increase frac sand transloading capacity in the North Montney Shale region in British Columbia.

In Fort St. John, British Columbia, the partners plan to expand track to transition to a unit-train-capable transload, boost daily capacity to keep up with the growing requirements at the crude oil wellsite, and improve efficiencies and increased throughput for frac sand customers.

“This expansion sets the stage for tremendous growth in the North Montney Shale,” said BMC Executive Vice President Adam Katz in a press release. “The shale has tremendous potential, and we are committed to the Canadian energy industry.”

CN currently moves unit trains of frac sand from BMC’s plant in Taylor, Wisconsin, to Fort St. John.

“Badger is a highly respected, quality sand producer whom we have worked with for a long time, and is known for supporting the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin for decades,” said TranSand President Norm Taves. “The North Montney is an exciting growth market.”
