Precision Terminal Logistics (PTL) recently reached an agreement with Norfolk Southern Corp. to operate the Class I's Thoroughbred Bulk Transfer (TBT) terminal in Louisville, Kentucky.

PTL will provide customized transloading services for various shippers at the terminal, which features 75 rail-car spots and a certified truck scale. Located near Interstate 264, the TBT offers shippers access to the immediate Louisville market, as well as Cincinnati, Indianapolis and Owensboro, Kentucky.

The terminal can handle hazardous and non-hazardous materials, dry and liquid bulk products, food grade products, aggregates, lumber, plastics and other dry bulk goods.

PTL welcomes the opportunity to provide much-needed transload and logistics services to the Louisville market, said said Jason Hodge, the company’s vice president of commercial development, in a press release.

"Not only will we deliver for this TBT, but it will also enhance the longstanding relationships we have with rail yards across the country," he said.

As operations at the TBT ramp up, PTL will continue coordinating efforts with Norfolk Southern Rail Integrated Solutions, a division of NS' First and Final Mile Markets Department.

"PTL has proposed a strategy aligning with three key objectives for our TBT network: enhancing operational safety, improving customer service and relationships, and driving sales and business development. [We] look forward to growing our partnership with PTL to move more freight for our customers and the global economy," said Ashley King, NS' director of rail integrated solutions.
