A reception was held last week to mark the start of construction at the RCR Taylor Logistics Park near Austin, Texas.

The 750-acre RCR Taylor Logistics Park will be located west of Taylor in Williamson County to serve the manufacturing, storage and logistics industries of the Austin area and central Texas. It will offer direct access to BNSF Railway Co. and Union Pacific Railroad lines, state highways 79 and 130 and Interstate 35.

Groundbreaking occurred earlier this year. Scheduled to open Sept. 1, the park will serve national and international grade manifest, transload and unit train firms that want to locate in the region, RCR Rail Co. officials said in a press release.

Austin is the fifth-largest growing U.S. city, and the park will spur business development, divert thousands of truck routes and provide employment in the region, RCR officials said.

RCR Rail operates a similar but smaller park in Hempstead, Texas, which opened in January. The company is planning for a third park, they said.
