Supply chain infrastructure and solutions provider Savage has announced plans to develop a multi-commodity, rail-connected transload terminal in southern Nevada to serve the Las Vegas market.

The proposed terminal will be located in Jean, Nevada, and be served by Union Pacific Railroad. Savage anticipates handling various fuels and industrial commodities at the terminal.

The terminal will reduce shippers’ logistics costs and support economic development for southern Nevada communities by attracting investment from rail-centric industries, said Mike Miller, Savage's senior vice president of business development, in a new release.

“By providing a cost-effective and environmentally friendly rail alternative to long-haul trucking, the transload terminal will also help reduce the number of trucks on the road," he said.

Savage is working with local authorities and agencies to advance rezoning and permitting requirements for the project.
