Union Pacific Distribution Services (UPDS) recently formed the Carload Solutions Group, a logistics business unit comprising the company’s OnePlus Transload Services and Rail Shipment Management Business departments.

The group will provide forward inventory management and distribution, rail shipment and transload management, in-transit visibility, logistics network design, forecasting, transportation systems integration, enterprise resource planning and private rail asset management services. The rail shipment department manages more than 200,000 carloads annually.

“Combining multiple product offerings into a single business unit affords us the opportunity to add a higher level of customized logistics services for our customers,” said UPDS President Beth Whited in a prepared statement.

A wholly owned Union Pacific Corp. subsidiary, UPDS provides rail-based logistics and transportation management services.
