Rail News: M&A
GE - Equipment Services recently acquired Terion Inc., which markets two-way wireless data communication and information systems to the transportation industry.
A rail-car, container, trailer and truck lessor, the GE unit plans to integrate Terion’s product lines into its asset intelligence division, which provides transportation asset tracking and monitoring systems. Through its rail and trailer fleet services units, the division currently is developing predictive maintenance software for mobile transportation assets.
During the next few months, Equipment Services’ asset intelligence division and Terion will coordinate operations but continue to function separately while they develop and implement integration plans.
“Terion’s technology … will help us increase our current capabilities for over-the-road trailers and accelerate our development of intelligence-based services for other modes of transport,” said GE - Equipment Services President and Chief Executive Officer Deborah Reif in a prepared statement.
